“unfortunately, we’ve only come back to berlin to break up…”
yes, berlin is the final night of the german leg of this farewell tour and if ever a show deserved to be called truly spectacular, this has to be it.
“we will explode in ecstasy!” declares ola salo, “and yes, we will look stupid…”
and the audience does indeed explode in ecstatic dancing but rather than look stupid it is a beautiful and splendid thing to behold.
and the final song is the one that has been with me for so long and will stay with me – ‘all-time favourite’ won’t ever do this justice: ‘calleth you, cometh i’. surely my brain has developed permanent neural circuits for instant access to this one… possibly the one song i’ve been quoting from most often in my head and in my diaries. the one song that has shaped my view of what true love (the ‘conquers all, no matter what’ kind) must be like. the one song that makes me desperately wish for just that:
…it’s where my reason stops and something else comes in
i know it doesn’t make sense, but still
calleth you, cometh i
and that’s how it is.
